Reports

Summarize time by project, person, tag, and more; drill into details; and export or print when you need to share numbers outside Timen.

Overview

Reports help you answer “where did the time go?” for a date range. You can start broad and then narrow down using filters and grouping.

Summary and detailed views

  • Summary — Roll up time by the way you group it (for example by project or tag), with charts and subtotals where the interface provides them.
  • Detailed — See individual time entries that match your filters, suitable for auditing or line-by-line review.

Switch tabs using the controls at the top of the report. Your filters usually apply to both views.

Filters and grouping

  1. Choose a date range for the report.
  2. Narrow by project, client, person, tags, billable status, or other options your team uses.
  3. Pick how to group the summary—for example by project, user, or tag—and optionally add a secondary grouping for nested breakdowns.
  4. Use Run (or the equivalent action) to refresh the report with your choices.

When you run a report, Timen can remember your filter and grouping choices as your default for next time.

Export and PDF

  • CSV — Download data for spreadsheets. Summary and detailed exports may have different columns.
  • PDF — Generate a document for sharing. Large exports may take a moment; follow on-screen status if shown.
  • JSON — Available for technical workflows that consume structured data.

Saved defaults

After you run a report with the filters you like, Timen can save that setup as your default view so the next visit starts in a familiar place.

Shared report links

Your workspace may share read-only report links with people outside the app using a special link. Anyone with the link can view what you shared—only share with people who should see that data.

Who can use reports

Viewing reports requires permission from your team admin. If you do not see Reports in the app, ask an owner or admin whether your role includes report access.
