Import data

Bring your history from another time tracker into Timen so you don’t start from scratch — clients, projects, tags, your team, and time entries come across in a few clicks.

Overview

Switching tools or consolidating your tracking? Importing copies your existing data into Timen so your reports, projects, and invoices pick up right where your old tool left off — no manual re-entry. You connect the source, choose what to bring over, and Timen does the rest in the background while you keep working.

Start an import from Settings → Import data.

How importing works

  1. Connect the source. Sign in (for sources that use a secure sign-in) or paste an API key or credentials.
  2. Pick what to import. Choose the data you want — clients, projects, tags, team, time entries, and (where available) invoices.
  3. Let it run. Imports run in the background, so you can keep working. Large imports may pause and resume automatically if the other service limits how fast we can read.
  4. Review. Imported data is added to your current team, ready to use in the timer, calendar, reports, and invoices.
Importing adds to your Timen data — it doesn’t overwrite or remove anything you already have.

Who can import

Importing is available to people who can manage integrations for the team (owners and admins by default). If you don’t see Settings → Import data, ask an admin to run the import or grant you access.
