Each line shows the hours worked, the hourly rate and the line total. Quantities take quarter hours and decimals, so 6.25 hours prints as 6.25.

The sample uses the Ledger layout. QTY shows hours worked and PRICE shows the hourly rate; the total hours appear below the lines. Nine other layouts carry the same fields.

What the hourly invoice template carries
The fields a client expects on an invoice with hours and a rate, laid out so the arithmetic is easy to check.
Total hours
A row under the lines adds the hours up, so the client can match the invoice to the timesheet without a calculator.
A description per line
Each line carries what the hours were for. Lines filled from tracked time take the entry's description, and you can rewrite any of them.
Your details and the client's
Both typed straight onto the invoice and kept for the next one, with the invoice number, issue date and due date beside them.
Subtotal, tax and amount due
The amount due follows the lines as you edit. Add a tax rate and label if you charge one.
Payment details and notes
Bank details, a reference and a short note print at the foot, so the client has everything they need to pay.
From tracked time
How the hours get on the invoice
Run the timer while you work, or log the hours afterwards. Each entry has a description, a project and a billable flag, and the project carries the rate.
At the end of the period, open the client's report and create the invoice from it. Choose a line for each included entry, or group the hours by project for a summary.
Invoiced entries are marked to help you keep previously billed work off the next invoice.

Make the template yours
Open any invoice and press Design. Pick one of ten layouts and the invoice redraws in it on the spot, with everything you had typed still in place.
Add your logo, then choose an accent colour and font to match your business.
Set the regional date and number formats and choose A4 or Letter paper. Timen saves these settings for your team's invoices.
Send it
A PDF for the client, a copy for your books
Download the invoice as a PDF with the fonts embedded, so it looks the same on the client's screen as on yours.
You can also send an invoice to QuickBooks Online, Xero, FreshBooks or Wave. You approve each send, and Timen keeps no standing connection between sends.
Wave does not accept invoices with tax or discounts, and invoices sent there cannot be updated from Timen. You can also download a CSV for the QuickBooks or Xero importer. See the invoice export details.
